October 2025 Monthly Member Meeting
Details being updated as we go. This month’s Member Meeting is this coming Monday 13 October. It will be hosted by Dave VK4JPS our Immediate Past President, and will carry a couple of topics:
- The club’s progress towards having a permanent home. It’s a long path, and we’re just at the start. Come along and find out what are the plans, and how you can get involved
- We recently received the most amazing gift, in the form a of a bequest. Chris Lyon, SK and (we think) VK4AIS, died from MND in July. One of his last acts was to pass his collection of gear to the Club, on the basis that he wanted it to rest with people who would appreciate the gear for what it is and get value from it. We’re looking to turn his legacy into something wonderful.
- Club Education Officer Dave VK4JPS has been hot on the heels of Foundation Licence training, and has expedited almost 20 new licensees in the last few months. This is a major initiative for the club. Find out how you can help. And… does anyone need an upgrade?
- Dave will also take us through the new Amateur Radio and Citizens band Determinations released by the ACMA at end of September. These Determinations are now in force. Some people don’t think the ACMA went far enough (gee.. would anyone like 1kW PEP?). Find out the good and the bad, and let’s discuss.
- And we’ll have time for a general natter. All this in person at Region Scouts HQ, 2 Victory Street Newtown Toowoomba, and online if you can’t make it in person.
This is the link for the meeting. Note that this meeting will be conducted using Microsoft Teams (we’re constantly experimenting) so don’t use old links and allow a bit of time to set up and test.
And keep an eye out for details of next month’s meeting, when John VK4JBE will be with us to talk EMR. What you need to know, and how to stay out of trouble.
