Saturday 21 March is John Moyle Memorial Field Day

Now could be the moment you bite the bullet and learn a bit about how to get HF to work for you.

Are you one of the many licensed operators whose knowledge is a bit low on HF?  Scared a bit maybe?   We know more than one club member who has little or no experience on bands below 2m.

The good news:  we all have to start somewhere, and the Club is here to help make that painless.

On Saturday 21 March from 1100-1700 we’re going to enter the John Moyle Field Day from Tobruk Memorial Drive (just over the hill heading east from the peak), , which is the road just down the hill to the east of the Picnic Point Cafe.      It’s a great location with plenty of parking, tables, and lots of trees.  And you can still get to the top of the hill to grab a coffee.

Rigging will start from 0700 on the day.

Plus this location is now on the list of parks that qualify for POTA, so we give you an opportunity to engage with another aspect of amateur radio and collect some contacts and points to add to your log.

More details in the next few days, but we can say right now

  • the club will enter the HF Multi-Multi category, as past years
  • we will operate from multiple areas on the site, starting from the upper car park and working through to the lowest area to get maximum separation from multiple operators
  • no experience is needed, and even if you’ve never been near a microphone before you will be able to participate.
  • no licence is needed, since you will be able to use a second operator or club call under supervision.   What a great way to learn the ropes… literally.
  • more detail maps will appear on this page as we link operators, bands and areas during the week

The times shown for the field day will be our actual on-air times for the competition but don’t forget that we need to set up and tear down.

Plan to come, even if it’s only for a look.    Drop a line to and let us do the rest.
