260914 September 2026 Club Meeting: visit to 4DDB

Our September meeting will be held at Community Radio Station 4DDB in Toowoomba.  You enter the station from the door on Scholefield Street, just west of Ruthven Street.  We’ll meet at the regular start time of 1900.

It’s a great chance to tour a radio station and see what developed from the early days when broadcasting was created by amateur radio experimenters.   Yes, we’re responsible!

See how audio works in a radio station;  discover the mysteries of broadcast automation which delivers life-like programs when nobody is around;  look in awe at the amazing distribution racks;  find out how the signal gets to the transmitter;  learn why studio acoustics is such an important topic;  what devices need to be in the signal path from microphone to receiver… and much more.

And if you feel like developing or applying some technology skills, volunteer roles are ALWAYS available in Community Broadcasting.  Come along and find out what you can learn, and what you can offer.

Nibbles and beverages will be provided.

Parking is limited in Scholefield Street, but is generally good after 1800 in Ruthven Street.  But check the signs and make sure you’re parked in an OK spot!
